Foreign Words in the Croatian Language
Abstract
The paper deals with linguistic ecology from the point of view of the right of the Croatian language to its own identity separate from Serbian. Superiority of Croatian in woed formation to main European languages is exemplified. Equivalents of foreign words are given. 80 natural phonological alternations are analyzed. Oriental loanwords are presented. Bibliography of main old Croatian bilingual dictionaries and Summary of the project Croatian Lexicographic Heritage and Presentation of Lexical Information is attached. Finally, the language, lettering and the spelling of the oaoer is explained.
